Meet The {HLS} Team
Katharine M. Hude, Attorney at Law
​
Kate earned her JD from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She also earned a MS in Nonprofit Arts Administration from Boston University, and a BFA in Theatre Design & Production from the University of Michigan.
​
Kate practices in the areas of nonprofit and business law, contracts, copyright and trademark, probate and estate planning, and real property. Kate's prior professional theatre experience in Connecticut and New York City, as well as her work with visual and performing nonprofits in Boston, allows her to offer additional nonprofit services to her clients, including nonprofit consulting, association management, strategic planning, board training and development, fund development, membership and communications planning, bookkeeping, and preparation of 990 annual returns of tax-exempt organizations.
A resident of Lansing, Kate is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Kate is an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, in the Arts, Cultural Management & Museum Studies graduate program, where she teaches a course on Nonprofit Law. In addition, she is a member of the Ingham County Bar Association and the Friends of Theatre at Michigan State University; and is the Fund Development Committee Chair of the Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center and the Junior League of Lansing Endowment Board Vice Chair. Kate is also a member of the City of Lansing Mayor's Arts and Culture Commission, where she chairs the Governance Committee and sits on the Public Art Committee.
Nichole L. Richardson, Executive Management Assistant

Nichole joined {HLS} in December 2021. Her administrative background includes over 4 years in child welfare administration with a local nonprofit agency. Nichole is currently working toward a degree in Business Administration from Lansing Community College.
Nichole, along with her family, reside in Lansing. She has been active in the scouting community for over 15 years and currently serves on the committee of Troop 2-East Lansing. Nichole also serves on the school board of Great Lakes Learning Academy, a public online charter school serving students in grades 6-12 in the state of Michigan.
Katrina M. Daniels, Communications and Social Media Assistant

Katrina assists {HLS} and its various nonprofit clients in the areas of social media, website maintenance, and graphic design. Katrina's full-time position is with the Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center as the Exhibitions and Gallery Sales Director.

Hude Legal Services, PLLC was established in 2013. Our office is located in a historic 1904 home at 824 North Capitol Avenue.
